I love livin' in the city!!!

John was showing Marna and me around the basement and in the parking garage of what to do in the building in case of an emergancy (how to turn off the water, lights, etc) when we came out of the garage and on to University street there were all these sirens, and cop cars blocked off the University entereance to 1-5. Soon more sirens, and helicopters. The phones started ringing like crazy from parents and I went to my computer to find out what the hell was going on and report back to Marna from downstairs. Between the newstations, the newspapers, and reports I was getting from Cathy who works in the Smith Tower and could see the chase and the stand off from her bosses office. SO much co motion so much exciteement. Bankrobbers and down town persuit and stand off. All five blocks from my place of business! Not that I hope anybody got hurt or anything. it's just. It makes the day less boring.

SEATTLE -- A chase that began after an armed bank robbery in West Seattle ended with at least one suspect injured, and a massive police response.

Dozens of patrol cars converged on the scene near the intersection of First & Spring Street where the fleeing SUV was finally stopped, and officers with guns drawn surrounded the vehicle.

The windows of the SUV had been blown out, and just before 11 a.m. officers with rifles and shields approached the SUV and pulled a man out of the driver's seat.

The man was handcuffed and tended to by Seattle Fire Department medics before being loaded into an ambulance.

Witnesses at the scene said several shots were fired, but it was not immediately clear whether police or the robbery suspects fired their weapons.

An FBI spokesperson said the incident began just after 10 a.m. when a man wearing a wig and dress robbed a Wells Fargo bank on California Avenue Southwest in West Seattle.

The man was armed with a handgun and jumped over the teller's counter, robbed the bank, and then ran out to a waiting SUV.

Seattle Police spokesman Mark Jamieson said one of the men in the SUV that sped from the scene of the robbery jumped out of the vehicle near the intersection of 8th and Yessler and has been taken into custody.

Jamieson said there were no shots fired at the bank and no one inside the branch was injured.

Streets in the area remain blocked, and officers have closed the Seneca Street exit from the Alaskan Way Viaduct.

Yeah, that was over ten years ago now, crazy.

I tried to see what year that was and I found a video

www.metacafe.com/watch/169222/samurai_sword_vs_police/

That guy used to be around that neighborhood a lot police would often times take his sword. One day he just snapped. You gotta admire the length of that stand off. The show at my parent's threatre was cancelled that night if I recall correctly.

There was a white muscled sword guy around town a lot like 10-15 years ago too. Everyone called him Conan. He was constantly getting hassled by the cops about his sword. Funny how the cops would make a bigger deal out of a guy carrying a sword on his back then someone carrying a gun.

Was Conan (ha!) on the Ave? and now aren't there those kids at UW that want to be allowed to walk about campus with a concealed weapons (guns)? I read something about that a while ago.

Back to swords, didn't Link have a sword too? Or was his fake? I haven't seen that guy in a while.

Guns are banned on the UW campus, but after the second incident of creepy guys hunting down, shooting and killing their ex-girlfriends on campus, there's been a push to allow them for self-defense.

Conan used to walk around the Ave, downtown and Broadway, he was actually a pretty nice guy, although a bit crazy I'm sure. He would practice with his sword in the median outside the old Last Exit coffee house. It was totally just for attention, although he'd claim the sword was for self-defense. Yeah, that Link guy who dresses like the Zelda character has a fake sword, I think it's cardboard and foam. Ha ha ha.
