Thursday’s Things that Make Mir Happy!

 1) Public Library Systems – Monday (actually all week) I’ve been on a “I need more music” kick. So I went to the public library’s website and put a hold on a bunch of CDs of bands I want to check out and compilation disks and such. Today one of my holds went through and I’m SO EXCITED to put the music on my computer & MP3 player and check it out. Yeay music! Free! Plus it’s a 4 disk compilation so if I decide I want more of any particular band’s stuff I could go to Everyday Music and buy some from the sexy, sexy dorky hipster boy I have a crush on there. All thanks to the public library system. *thumbs up*
2) Region 0 DVD Sets--I was a naughty naughty girl and bought season 1-3 of Dr. Who for like $60 (less than what one season alone costs). It's a slpurge but that price was so awesome I couldn't resist. now I can stop looking at amazon and sighing, knowing I'll never afford all the seasons. Yeah I'm a dork. I know it's not the most important expendature in the world but what's done is done and I can't wait to get it. So many good episodes! Get to get my dork on when they arrive. Very excited. Too bad they didn't have any Region0 Mighty Boosh or IT Crowd. Oh well.
3) Happy hour drinks tomorrow - I’ve got a drinkin’ date with John tomorrow after work! Just John and me. It was going to be the other office peeps but now it’s just me and John. He asked if I was still down to having a happy hour drink on Friday even though everyone else bailed. I said I was. I asked if his heart was set on the bar across the street; he said he wasn’t. So I’m taking him to the Dunnes! I’ll get my Dunnes fix (I’ve been under a rock for the past two weeks, I need to get out and visit my pub) and I get to hang out with John in a completely non-work related environment. EEK! Right before he left today we made sure we were both still on for tomorrow. We are. I’m excited. Go Team Mir!
4) Obama’s Speech tonight--The Girls™ have a book meeting tonight but I think we’ll pause to watch his speech. I really want to see it. I’ve followed as well as can, this Democratic Convention, and this is one speech I definitely don’t want to miss. I was thinking about it and all the historic moments in this country in my adult life have been bad—9/11, US invasion of Iraq, Hurricane Katrina. I guess that’s what’s to be expected with Bush in office my whole adult life. For once, this election has that feeling of history in the making and it’s positive, hopeful, and something to be proud of. That feeling is such a relief after eight years of historic moments triggering fear, embarrassment and anger. I hope this is a sign of things looking up.
What's most amamzing is that I'm happy on a payroll day! (usually uber stressfull)
