December = Crazy Anticipation

December is my favorite month. The first I have all this anticipation for my birthday (and I haven’t been disappoint in a birthday in years, I’m hapy to report.) Then usually after my birthday I get in the holiday spirit and look forward to Christmas. After the Christmas hangover ends I’m looking forward to partying down with my close friends for the New Year. I fuckin’ love December!

Strangely enough, though, I’m finding I’m in the holiday spirit early this year. Usually Christmas takes a back seat to my birthday, and I have ten days of Christmas Cheer, which is plenty. For whatever reason, this year, here it is only the 3rd and I’ve already bought one gift and purchased and put together some x-mas cards. Crazy. Perhaps, it’s just a needed distraction, like a subconscious thing, to bring myself a bit of cheer in light of the fact that everything generally seems so glum when I wake up and listen to the news every day. Perhaps it’s because The Girls™ are crazy tight lipped about my birthday surprise this year. Though at the same time they’re damn good at taunting me about whatever it is. My wrapped presents are in plain sight in Raye’s bedroom, I’m not allowed in Cathy’s room when I’m over for book meetings. They keep talking about how excited they are and how awesome it’s going to be but I’m at a loss. If you happen to be in the know, don’t tell me preferably don’t taunt me but you can if you like. If you’re not in the know and want to be let me know and I’ll point you in the right direction.

On an unrelated sidenote I wish I could see the current season of The IT Crowd. I guess, according to Why that's Delightful, there's going to be an homage to my favorite comedic Bat-sequence when batman couldn't get rid of the bomb about to go off, where I got my mantra "Sometimes you just can't get rid of a bomb!" I'm so curious!

OH no! Your 12.15 (or 15.12 if you happen to be in europe at the time) have not been going well as of late? I'm sorry. :( Often the day it self I am not celebrating much, it lands on a monday this year (boo!) so the party is on Saturday. Monday I'll be just sleeping in and eating happy hour squid.

Well, last year was pretty all right...went to the Merc, saw friends. Even got a present or two.

But every year prior to that since, like, the early 90s has been pretty unremarkable, if not actually completely hellish for one reason or another. The, uh, latter is tragically more common than the former, alas.
I try to pretend the day doesn't exist, mostly. And usually fail.

I hope yours is rockin', tho!

Well I hope yours breaks the mold and turns out well this year. If you're out at the Merc perhaps I could stop by and buy you a b-day drink. :)

Well, like you said, it's a Monday; I'll likely not be there. But thanks for the wishes, anyway. Happy soon-to-be-mutual birthday! :)
