This weekend, things didn’t really go exactly as I had planned. On Thursday my cell phone died on me. I swear the phone companies just send out a signal or something in the months before your contract is up, forcing you to upgrade and sign a new two year contract. So I went to the AT&T store on the hill, got a new phone, and got home to realize I kinda got baited and switched. My new phone is super cute and I’m pleased with it, it’s just I was told it’s also an MP3 player and so that got me kinda buzzed but to make it work properly I have to buy their headphones (earbuds, which I hate) and I’m not allowed to assign songs as ringtones for friends, I still have to buy those ringtones. So Basically the two things that made me particularly excited about the phone were lies. BASTARDS! Oh well, it’s still super cute, super light, and as a phone it’s main purpose after all, I’m happy with it. Still, though, the night was supposed to be spent drinking wine and writing, but it kinda turned into a night drinking wine and playing with my new phone.

Meanwhile, Raye was called up by Dorothy who was at her apartment, unable to move, asking if she should go to the hospital. Raye said she should and met up with Dorothy and Seana at the Cherry St. Swedish. I guess they were over there until 3 in the morning and had a long night. I woke up on Friday morning and Dorothy was in Raye’s bed and Raye was on the couch. She was going to stay home and take care of Dorothy but it made more sense that I stayed home with her since I have PTO and Raye doesn’t. I called in, and we all got to go back to bed for a few more hours. I got up and watched some House with Dorothy, though I don’t understand why she wanted to watch a medical show after how she was treated at Sweedish the night before, they actually said to her “we don’t diagnose, we just rule things out.” Cathy, upon hearing this, took off from work at the lunch hour and decided to take Dorothy to Harbor View to get something more concrete. We got over there around noon-ish and were there for about eight hours. I went to the cafeteria and wandered around for a while (maybe pretending I was on House, what?) and kept my eye open for hot doctors, which there were actually quite a few. I’m glad I was able to be there for Dorothy. I remember how shitty it was when I was having back problems and mine never got as bad as being half paralyzed.

After a long day at the hospital Raye (who joined us after she got off work), Cathy and I went out to the Dunnes and closed the bar. We were supposed to get tarted up and go to the Merc but Raye and I were so not up to all of that, especially since there was no way we were going to get there before they started charging a cover. So the Dunnes was a pleasant plan B. I got properly assertive and told this guy to get the fuck away from Cathy, and when he wouldn’t listen to me I had the door man get him to fuck off. (Because apparently my authority is worthless as he kept saying “let me explain” no matter how many times I stopped him to tell him there was nothing to explain. I guess to him I was just being a cock blocker, but whatevs)

Saturday, things were back on track with my plans, apart from the waking up at 2:30 in the afternoon. That evening I had plans to hang out with Samuel and David at their place, have dinner and drinks and introduce them to The Mighty Boosh (since there’s so much in there that Samuel would love). I had a lovely evening, we drank a lot of vodka, we had steaks, potatoes, asparagus and a grilled tomato. Yum yum. After a very late dinner everyone kind of went into food comas and I crashed on their couch, to be awoken really early in the morning when the sun came up (their apartment in on Lake Washington, facing east).

All and all a kind of exhausting weekend. Didn’t get any writing done, as I had planned but I got some quality friend time in.
