Friday Andy & I went over to Sam & David’s for dinner and drinks. I got to show Andy how awesome their place is on the lake. Samuel was giving a go at gumbo (though I had to ask him to not make it spicy as I’m a real pussy when it comes to spice. To which some might say ‘that’s not gumbo, the is it’). Samuel got a bit of a late start on dinner but it was all good, we milled around the house, near the kitchen talking and drinking wine. Dinner wasn’t served until about 11 but it was well worth the wait. The food was fantastic! I think Samuel did an excellent job with the dinner especially for his first time making the dish and having to cater to my and Andy’s spice issue. It was a really good night. I love spending time with my gay boy.

Saturday was particularly lazy. Raye, Andy and I pretty much just hung out in my living room chatting, showing Andy photos and going out to smoke. I baked a cheesecake for the SuperBowl Party the next day. I make a mean cheesecake but I fucked this one up a bit when I forgot to put in the heavy whipping cream. I was so pissed when I figured out what I had done. It turned out decent, the texture wasn’t as creamy unfortunately but the taste was not affected. After my cake was done and ready to go Andy and I headed north to his place, stopping at Ezelle’s on the way for dinner. (This was only my second time having Ezelles and the first to try any of the sides and DAMN! Good stuff.) We lazed for a while and eventually got around to making the deviled eggs for the supper bowl party as well.

Sunday morning Andy and I got up and prepared for Dan’s (Andy’s friend/roommate/host) Superbowl party. I helped him prepare plenty of nibblies and we were done and ready to go pretty early. I was getting a little worried that people weren’t going to show up, but when I walked over to QFC to pick up some wine the place was full when I returned. The party was fun. I kind of passively watched the game (not a big football fan) laughed at a few good commercials, enjoyed the Who and ate way too much food in the whole process. All in all it was a really nice weekend.

I’m really looking forward to next weekend--Valentine’s Day weekend. Andy’s taking me out of town (he spilled the beans this weekend as to where and we’re going to the ocean!). It’s going to feel like a long week in anticipation for the weekend. In which case, I think I’m going to have to keep myself busy (after I catch up on some rest) to make the time go faster. I’m going to be a proper red head again and have my hair did. Cumberland’s letter is on it’s way to me so I’ll probably get my Aberdeen application out this week. Then I want to get thank you cards and some sort of small gift for McDowell and Cumberland for the letters of recommendations. Finally I want to have a couple of real writing nights and not be so easily distracted by wine and friends. Also got to put my V-Day present together as well. I think that should keep the time going quickly and get me by until my first real, proper Valentine’s day little hearts and stuff time. Eep! ...Not that I really need it to be a hallmark holiday to have little hearts and stuff time. I'm in crazy happy love time in general. It's just that usually I can't get excited about this holiday as I didn't have a fella and the one time I did have a fella I had to buy my own damn Valentine's day gift which was a sign of the end of that. So this year I'm so excited for a proper holiday.

Ezelles. Great stuff there. I miss me some Ezelles. Did you try the sweet potato pie?

Re: Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Actually I've never had sweet potato pie from anywhere. I've discovered I really like sweet potatoes though. Sweet potato fries? *drool* No I had the mashed potatoes and gravy which was awesome and the baked beans which were super awesome And that previous sentence is why Miranda does not have a future in the food writing biz.
