Can you feel the love? I can!

I've been FAR too busy to post in a while but I have to write about the amazing amount of love I've received in the past handful of days.
Friday, the 17th, was my last day at work. It was busy and a little stressful but it was good. The staff had a potluck for my "good-bye day" and it was an awesome spread. I stuffed myself silly. Staff gave me hugs and told me how I would be missed and they pulled together about $236 for me (to put on a coffee card when I get there). Andy came to fetch me at the end of the day, which was a bit rushed because I had a wedding to attend that night. When I left Marna helped me carry things out to the car and she teared up when we hugged and said goodbye. It was rather surreal, driving away unemployed but feeling properly appreciated.

Saturday night was my "Super Secret Going Away Party." The night before, after the wedding, Andy threw me for a loop as to the surprise. I jokingly said something about midgets and Andy replied "Who told?" He lead me to believe that I was getting midget strippers and that the girls were going to kill him for letting the secret out. I thought he was fucking with me at first but he was so convincing that I came around to buy it, hook, like and sinker. The day of the party came around and I waited for time to pass, Andy seemed nervous, I suspected becasue of the prospect of Christine & Raye castrating him for letting out a secret. Then we got a frantic call from Christine that she and Cory were having car trouble and couldn't get to "the venue" and needed Andy to pick them up. So we headed up to Balard to "pick them up. When we got inside Christine was still so upset and ran to me and hugged me all apologietic and I looked up and saw a TARDIS in the corner at first I thought "Wait we have to lug THAT to the venue" when suddenly a flood of friends poured out from the TARDIS doors and filled Christine's living room. It was a great surprise. I was overwhelmed and went around the room giving everyone a hug.
There was a beautiful cake with a dalek on top. The food spread were British foods like bangers and mash, cucumber sandwiches and these yummy sausage pastries Cathy made. For a present, they put together a care package they're going to mail out to me. It was a big box full of smaller boxes decoupaged with pictures from all the fun stuff we've done over the years. It was beautiful. Inside the care package were things I'd need over thee from a first aid kit to a travel clock set to Seattle time so I always know what time it is here when I call people. It also had stuff they don't have over there that I'm going to miss like Fritos, Kraft Mac'n'Cheese, and a Taco Bell taco making kit. Also they put in frames with pics of Andy & Me, the Girls, and the photo from the Schmee Softball game. There was even a book in there called "The Spanish Inquisition" That needless to say, I did not expect because, well, no one does. :) The Halagans lent out the Dr Who pinball machine for the occasion and the house was decorated in Union Jacks and Dr. Who stuff. I loved it.
They had a game to play called "Stump the Mir" where I was asked 30 questions about Britian and if I got them correct I won a prize (all UK/Dr who themed). I actually did an appalling job getting only 12 out of 30 correct. It was embarassing. I did however win most of the prizes I really wanted, mostly becasue I think Andy & Christine made sure to have certian prizes attached to certian questions I would get. Still bumed Dan got that tequilla I wanted.
Almost all of my dear friends were present for my party along with my parents and Regan (who's practically my brother as he's always been around while I was growing up. It was overwhelming to have everyone I love in one room, I wanted to have face time with everybody, but it was also really neat to have so many people from different areas in my life represented (from Tablet to the Schmee) and talking to each other. It was neat for my 'rents to meet my friends and I think there were really struck by what an amazing group of people I roll with. My dad even said, kinda tipsy, "so this is what your parties are like! I want to be invited again!" This is even after Samuel latched on and talked talked talked at them through half the party.
Before cake cutting there were teary eyed speaches that made me feel so very loved. I can't even describe (with out tearing up again at this keyboard). Christine spoke, then Andy welling up considerably then I thanked everyone for coming and let them know how much I love them and how lucky I am to have them in my life. Teary love fest was followed by a cake feast.
As it does the night progressed to where everyone became more intoxicated and a bit more dramatic, but all in all it was a superb party. I couldn't have asked for better. I couldn't ask for better friends than the amazing people I have in my life right now. Mir is full of love. Thanks to all involved, especially to Christine & Cory, Raye and Andy. Blood, sweat, tears and significant funds (in tight times) were put into that send off and I will never forget it.
Hopefully Regan will post pics on FB soon. I want those pics!

Well I should give Andy his computer back. I'm finding in my post send off party that the numbness is going away and I'm finding it easier to just start crying. Andy and I had our personal day together yesterday and we both lost it slightly at a Chinese restaurant. Tonight getting hair done and having drinks. Tomorrow is shopping with my mum and dinner with the rents (getting my mums chicken & dumplings-WORD!). Wednesday is a day of laundry, salumi with raye and packing and then my last ANTM get together and on Thursday I'm off.

3 days according to my little ticker. Crazy.

Sounds like one helluva gang bang!!!
..or "love fest" as you want to call it.

I'm really bummed that I couldn't make it. I had a couple things pop up that I just couldn't get out of. I can't wait to see the pics.

"Mir is full of love" - I find this funny as hell. I just can't stop thinking about this line in song form with little lezbot Mir's rubbing up all against each other acting all dirty like.

3 days. Tick-tock. Tick-tock. It'll be here in no time.

Re: Sounds like one helluva gang bang!!!

I'm sorry you couldn't make it too but I understand. Thank you and Arch both though for your contribution, though. Thanks so much.

I was too busy running around I only got three pictures. Regan was taking a bunch of pictures which means I can offer no time line for when I'm going to see 'em. Could be after my "welcome Home Party" hopefully not of course. I need those pics to remember what I'm coming home to.

I was thinking the Bjork song when I wrote that. :)

I'm so glad we were able to pull off the party (and the surprise element of it). It couldn't have turned out better! I think you know the pile of awesome sauce you have to come back to with your friends, family and ... me! I love you sweetie!
