I have missplaced my pants.

On Sunday Raye, Dorothy, Sarah, Aaron, Andy & I did the no-pants light rail ride. We met up at Westlake, got our tickets and received our instructions, then went down into the Union Street tunnel and did our no pants thing.

Group shot of everyone at the meet up

Us at Union St Station (before Aaron took his pants off obviously)

I had to test a theory that the marble seat would be really cold and guess what....it WAS!
Now the point was for everybody to act all nonchalant while in their underpants on the train but with this group, not so so much. It was also impossible to be indifferent and act natural when there were so many people on the trains without pants on. It was also weird becasue there were so many photographers around, some who followed us and got off of stops when we did taking pictures of us when we were waiting for other trains. It kinda made us feel like we had the paparazzi on us, it made one feel kinda special.

At SODO station, note Aaron at the end is wearing London Tube boxers. :)
Andy had to leave a little early becasue he needed to get a haircut before 5 so we only went as far as Columbia City then parted ways from the group who were going all the way down to SeaTac airport. In a way though Andy and I were the brave ones, now that we were kind of disconnected from not just our group of friends but the flash mob group in general. I don't think I would have thought I'd find myself pantsless in Columbia City.

When our northbound train came Andy and I were the only two people on the train who were sans pants and the ride worked the way it was supposed to. The people going into town were unaware of the flash mob and it was a proper social test. People tried to avoid eye contact, some scowled, some looked confused. We had our tickets checked by security and acted completely normal--that is till a reporter from the times talked to us and took some pictures. (Which luckily didn't run but there was a terrible picture of me with Andy on the front page of KOMO I heard, damnit!)

We re-applied leg attire when we got back to Westlake then rushed off to lower Queen Anne and both got quick haircuts just before 4:30.

The next day I found it funny to read the comments on the Times and PI's website in response to the fluff story of the no-pants flash mob. Some people really need to learn to have a sense of humor take part in some harmless Sunday sillyness instead of spending all their time on line frothing at the mouth about politics or ragging on some folks forgetting thier pants.
