Epic Spit Take Fail

So last Saturday Andy and I had Dani and Raye over to hang out, drink beer and eat pizza. So we're sitting around drinkin' beer and chatting and Dani said something to make me laugh right as I took a sip of my beer. I was kinda sitting on the arm of the couch, above Raye and Andy and rather than laugh and spit all over them I tried to go around the coffee table, around the couch and into the kitchen or bathroom. Managing through that obstacle course the beer in my mouth fizzed up and in laughing I inhaled a lung full of beer. In our little apartment you have to go through the kitchen to get to the bathroom. I got as far as halfway through the kitchen before I exploded beer and bits of lung, probably bits of sick.
Once I finally got to the bathroom and tried to lean on the sink, I somehow slipped and fell to the ground smashing my forehead against the stone corner of the sink. I literally briefly knocked myself out. When I came to on the floor, the little garbage can poking in my side, I was a little disoriented, humiliated and mad at myself--assuming for a half a second that I had somehow blacked out the whole night and that I had just come to after some late night vomiting binge or something. It only took a few seconds before the next coughing bout brought me to and remember all that had just happened, though still not sure how I had slipped. I wasn't even remotely troliied.
I got up and looked in the mirror to see that I had a huge, Warner Brothers cartoon-like bump on my head. I should have taken a picture it was so absurdly big. I spent the rest of my evening cautiously sipping my beer and coughing heavily with frozen peas on my head. I also felt like I had a knot in my stomach for a number days and just the other day it fully showed as a huge bruise of my belly, where I fell on the little garbage can. Luckily, the frozen peas brought the swelling down and the bump on my head never bruised. Almost a week later both my head and my belly are still tender.

We've got Sam & Raye coming over tonight for dinner and a movie. I'll be on my guard and hope that I'm not the only one trained in the Heimlich Maneuver.

Oh my god, what a trip that was!! I'm glad you're ok, though still tender.

I'm glad you're okay after your little trip.

I have to admit, I did chuckle a bit at the mental image of "exploded beer and bits of lung".
